Spiritual bankruptcy is when you try to fill the emptiness, get rid of anxiety, depression or feelings of not being worthy with anything else other than a spiritual relationship with God.
No matter how much money, material possessions, physical appearance, accomplishments, admiration from others, a relationship, sex, food, drugs, alcohol or anything else you try to fill that void with - it will never be enough. Addiction and always wanting more and trying to control people, places and things comes from this root cause.
True contentment, peace and serenity comes from a spiritual relationship with God.
